From a cushioned corporate career after my MBA, life took a very different turn during the Covid era. With my family’s wellness at the heart of every decision, I found myself diving deep into the world of natural foods and adaptogens. Back then, every time friends or relatives flew in from the US, we would ask them to carry functional mushroom supplements for us because they simply weren’t available here.
But soon, that wasn’t enough. I wanted more than just access, some assurance of purity, the confidence of potency, and the ability to trace every step from spore to supplement. That’s when I decided to take the leap, leave behind the corporate comfort, and build something meaningful right here in India.
In 2021, I grew my first batch of oysters. I trained at the prestigious IIHR–ICAR, combined it with deep self-learning, and in 2023, established our farms across Karnataka and Uttarakhand. What started as a mother’s quest for health grew into SomaShrooms™ (by YS Organics) — a National Award-winning spore-to-supplement enterprise.
At SomaShrooms, we’ve launched industry-firsts like Lion’s Mane Honey and functional mushroom blends for pets, proving that innovation and tradition can thrive together. My passion lies in bioactive compounds — β-glucans, hericenones, triterpenes, cordycepin — and how they can transform health for brain, gut, immunity, and vitality.
I also hold a patent on the device that detects mushroom diseases early, helping farmers, horticulturists, and mushroom growers optimize conditions and improve yields. Along the way, I’ve been honored with the Best Farmer of the Year Award by ICAR, and invited to speak at multiple forums on functional mushrooms and nutraceuticals.
For me, this journey is deeply personal. From motherhood to agripreneurship, from spore to supplement, my mission is simple: to bring the transformative power of mushrooms into every family’s wellness journey.

Soma was also the name of a sacred drink used in religious rituals. This beverage was said to offer the drinker insight, clarity, and divine wisdom, qualities that resonate with the benefits attributed to medicinal mushrooms like Lion’s Mane (known for enhancing cognitive function and clarity).
