It was consumed by priests during rituals to invoke spiritual ecstasy and divine connection, believed to grant immortality and enhance cognition. Lord Krishna himself mentioned the purification power of the Soma juice in Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 9 verse 20.
In the Vedic texts, Soma is personified as a god, often associated with the moon and linked to immortality and divine strength. The god Soma is depicted as a deity who bestows vitality, wisdom, and heightened spiritual awareness.
Soma was also the name of a sacred drink used in religious rituals. This beverage was said to offer the drinker insight, clarity, and divine wisdom, qualities that resonate with the benefits attributed to medicinal mushrooms like Lion’s Mane (known for enhancing cognitive function and clarity).
